GF DF Anciant Egyptian Date Candy

This recipe comes from a friend who loves everything to do with ancient Egypt. This recipe was from 1600BC and was found on an ostraca. If you make the balls a lot smaller (about the size of a marble) then the recipe will stretch to make up to 30 balls.

Ingredients
1 cup fresh dates

1 tsp of cinnamon

1/2 tsp cardamom (kardemam) seed

1/2 cup fresh ground walnuts

small amount warm honey

dish of fine ground almonds

Directions

1. Put the dates into the blender and mix with some water to form a paste (put in a teaspoon at a time until the right consistency is formed).

2. Mix in cinnamon and cardamom seeds

3. Kneed in the walnuts

4. Form balls (about an inch across), spread with honey and cover in the ground almonds.

Makes 2 Servings
